In Jefferson Parish Louisiana sheriff Newell Normand cut the ribbon last Wednesday on a new police station despite the fact that the original contractor went bankrupt. While the project was delayed as a result of the bankrupt contractor, the job was completed at no additional cost to the tax payers because the performance bonds required on the job covered the completion of the project. The surety company hired a replacement contractor to complete the project and made sure that all subs and suppliers were paid.
