The state of Ohio has a plethora of local municipality surety bonds that all have a common expiration date. At the end of the year the bonds will expire and need to be replaced. This confuses some people because they assume the bond is for a one year term.

Ohio Surety Bonds
For instance, someone gets a builders license in Lake County in May of 2014 and assume it renews in May of 2015. While this is the case for most surety bonds, below is a list of bonds that we know of that have a statutory expiration date of 12/31. Furthermore, these bonds are not continuous until cancelled as many surety bonds are. A new bond has to be issued effective 1/1/2015. Below is a list of the municipalities where new bonds need to be issued as of 1/1/2015:
- City of Brook Park – Contractor Bond
- Fairfield Department of Health – Registration Bond for Sewage Treatment System Installer
- Lake County Department of Utilities – Sewer and Water Builders License Bond
