Effective July 1, 2014 the amount of the CA Immigration Consultant Surety Bond required to be filed with the CA Secretary of State’s office has been increased from $50,000 to $100,000 per Statutes of 2013. Chapter 574 (AB1159). All other requirements for an immigration consultant remain the same. If you have not complied with the new law and obtained your $100,000 you will no longer be listed on the Secretary of State’s website as being active any longer.
A $100,000 surety bond will be required for new submissions received after May 30, 2014.
The Immigration Consultant Check List will remain the same other than the bond, as follows:
Submit the following items to the Secretary of State:
- Copy of a current Surety Bond ($100,000) obtained from a corporate surety (admitted to do business in California).
- Completed Immigration Consultant Disclosure form.
- Copy of a valid and current photo identification. Acceptable forms of photo identification are:
- An identification card or driver’s license issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
- A passport issued by the Department of State of the United States.
- An identification card issued by a state other than California.
- A driver’s license issued by a state other then California.
- An identification card issued by any branch of the armed forces of the United States.
- 2″ x 2″ passport photo.
- $30.00 filing fee.
- Copy of the Request for Live Scan Service form (after the live scan operator has completed the “Live Scan Transaction Completed By” portion of the form) as proof that fingerprints were submitted.
