The Minnesota Water Conditioning Contractor Bond is required by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.

According to Minnesota Statute 326B.50, water conditioning installation refers to “the installation of appliances, appurtenances, and fixtures designed to treat water so as to alter, modify, add or remove mineral, chemical, or bacterial content”. In the State of Minnesota, a license is required for a water conditioning installer or contractor to work in a city with a population of 5,000 or more. The license applicant must have 12-months experience in planning and supervising water conditioning installation and servicing and is required to file a surety bond with the Department of Labor and Industry. The bond ensures that the bond holder’s faithful and lawful compliance with Minnesota Statute 326B, as amended.

The required bond amount is $3,000.

The Minnesota Water Conditioning Contractor Bond is continuous in nature; therefore, it remains in full force and effect until cancelled. The bond may be cancelled by the Surety at any time by providing the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry with 30 days written notice prior to cancellation.
