The Texas Superheavy or Oversize Permit Bond is required by the Texas Department of Transportation in the amount of $10,000.
You must file your Superheavy or Oversize Permit bond with Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. You are allowed to fax the completed bond and mail the original immediately by regular mail.

The bond promises that the bond holder will pay the Texas Department of Transportation any and all damages that may be occur under the jurisdiction of the Texas Transportation Commission.
The bond has a mandatory expiration date of August 31 following the effective date. For instance, if the bond had an effective date of January 1, 2016, it would expire on August 31, 2016. If the bond were written August 29, 2016, it would still expire on August 31, 2016. This is a state mandated requirement.
The cost of this bond is as low as $100 for the year and no credit check is required. A new bond must be obtained every year. The state does not accept continuation certificates for this obligation. Within the effective period of an Annual Bond (September 1 through August 31), all owned or leased vehicles of the bond holder will be eligible for oversize/overweight permits.
