The Texas Certificate of Title Surety Bond is required by the Department of Motor Vehicles. The bond protects prior and subsequent owners from any loss or damage by the issuance of the Bonded Title to the applicant.
The State may require you to obtain the bond, to secure a Bonded Title, when there is incomplete or incorrect evidence of ownership. This is essentially a title based on the value of the vehicle when the original proof of ownership has been lost or damaged and cannot be reproduced.
Surety companies cannot provide this amount for you. Please note you cannot fully complete our application and we cannot write your bond until a bond amount is established.
Texas requires one and one-half (1 1/2) the value of the vehicle as determined by the Department. Submit a Statement of Fact for Bonded Title. Once approved you will receive a letter with the required bond amount.
First, start the process by completing our easy to navigate, free online application form. Then, after your application has been submitted, one of our surety agents will contact you with a no-obligation quote on the bond premium. After that, once you are ready to move forward, you just need to pay the premium and sign the agreement. Lastly, your Texas Certificate of Title Surety bond will be mailed to you by USPS Priority Mail. Overnight delivery is also available for an additional fee.
