The Oregon Outfitter Guide Bond is required by the Oregon State Marine Board in the amount of $5,000. Outfitter guides, or their agents, who accept deposits of more than $100 per person are required to be bonded. An agent may be a broker, representative, booking company, or website that accepts money on your behalf.
The Outfitter Guide bond ensures that the bondholder will comply with all terms of ORS chapter 704. In addition, they shall perform all agreed upon duties according to contracts, and return all deposits following cancellation of services.
Individuals who provide outdoor recreational activities for compensation are called Outfitter Guides. Guides take people fishing, hunting, rafting, biking, hiking, rock climbing, as well as other activities. Part of their licensing requirements is to have the Outfitter Guide Bond.
