The North Carolina Water/Wastewater Bond is required by the North Carolina Utilities Commission, for all those who would like to franchise a water or sewer utility company. No franchise may be granted to any sewer or utility company until the applicant has furnished a bond.
The bond shall be conditioned upon providing adequate and sufficient service within all the applicant’s service areas. Including those for which franchises have previously been granted.
What is the bond amount?
The Water/Wastewater bond amount will vary. Public Staff will recommend an amount, not less than $10,000. The bond must be secured with sufficient surety as approved by the Commission.
Are there other requirements for application?
Along with the North Carolina Water/Wastewater Bond, applicants must also submit an Original Copy of Power of Attorney. Likewise, an Original Copy of Commitment Letter must be submitted. A completed Application for Transfer of Public Utility Franchise is required.
