The Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Bond is required by the Alcoholic Beverage Control of the Department of Revenue for persons who wish to be engaged in the business of manufacturing or retailing alcoholic beverages.
What is the purpose of a Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Bond?
The bond states that the bondholder shall faithfully observe the provisions of the Local Option Alcoholic Beverage Control Laws, Sections 671-1-, et seq., MCA 1972, as well as Sections 27-71-1 through 27-71-31, MCA 1972, all amendments thereto and Rules and Regulations issued there-under, and shall pay all taxes, damages, interest, and penalties, which may accrue to the State of Mississippi, including but not limited to sales, income, and privilege taxes. The amount of the bond is set at $5,000.
This surety bond is not insurance for the manufacturer or retailer but for the state. If ever the principal (manufacturer or retailer) violates the rules and regulations of the state, anyone who has suffered damages or loss may claim the surety bond. The surety company will issue a payout which the principal will reimburse to the surety company
