A professional fundraiser, as defined by the 2018 Minnesota Institutes 309.50, is any person who for financial compensation or profit performs for a charitable organization any service in connection with which contributions are, or will be, solicited in this state the compensated person. Anyone who would like to be in this profession must be registered with the attorney general, and a surety bond may be one of the requirements that must be met.

The Minnesota Professional Fund-Raiser Bond states that the bondholder, their agents, and their employees shall strictly, honestly, and faithfully comply with the provisions of the Minnesota Charitable Solicitation Act.
