The Minnesota Plumbing Contractor Code Compliance Bond is required of any person who performs building sewer or water service installation. According to Minnesota Statute 326B.46, “no individual shall engage in or work at the business of a master plumber, restricted master plumber, journeyworker plumber, and restricted journeyworker plumber unless licensed to do so by the commissioner”. The license application process includes filing a surety bond with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
The required Minnesota Plumbing Contractor Code Compliance Bond amount is $25,000.
The Minnesota Plumbing Contractor Code Compliance Bond protects the State of Minnesota and all persons injured by wrongdoing of the Principal. If the Principal violates the Minnesota State Plumbing Code, Minnesota Rules Chapter 4714, or any contracts entered into, any person damaged as a result has a legal right of action on the bond.
The bond must be renewed annually.
The Minnesota Plumbing Contractor Code Compliance Bond may be cancelled at any time by giving thirty days written notice to the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
All fees are required by the obligee, not the Surety Company.
