The Maryland Private Detective Bond is required by the State of Maryland. The bond states that the bondholder, or his agents, operatives, and assistants, shall faithfully and honestly conduct the business and properly discharge all the service which he may perform by the virtue of such license.
An individual who conducts business that provides private detective services for a fee, maintain an office for their business, employ other persons as private detectives or represent to the public as a private detective agency, must be licensed. An applicant for a detective license can be an individual or a firm.
One of the requirements is that they must present a surety bond. Surety1 can write this bond with just a filled out application online.
All applicants must be at least 25 years old and must meet the required years of experience that is outlined in this webpage. Applicants must mail the application packet to the Licensing Division. Please make sure to include the $200 payment for the initial application for individuals or $375 for firms. Applications must also have FBI and CJIS fingerprint submissions, along with two 2×2 photographs, two tax forms, and Article of Incorporation.
