The Louisiana Solicitor’s Permit Bond is required by the State of Louisiana, Board of Regents, in the amount of $1,000. The bond states the solicitor is liable to any student suffering loss as a result of any fraud or misrepresentation used by the solicitor in procuring his enrollment in the course of instruction. This includes repayment of tuition fees paid in advance. It further states the solicitor must comply with all terms, conditions, provisions and requirements of Louisiana Revised Statutes 17:3141.9

A solicitor solicits business for a proprietary school and is usually the first contact between school and prospective student. They can also be referred to as an agent, salesperson, recruiter and representative. One must apply and obtain a permit as a solicitor. If the solicitor represents more than one school, a separate permit must be obtained for each school.
