The Iowa Beer and Wine Bond is required by the State of Iowa, Alcoholic Beverages Division. The bond amount for a Class “A” beer permit (wholesale) and a special Class “A” beer permit (brew pub) is $10,000. For a Class “A” wine permit (wholesale) and a wine direct shipper the bond amount is $5,000.
The surety bond is part of the applicant’s requirements to get a wine or beer permit. This surety bond is not an insurance for the applicant. Rather, it is for the assurance of the state that you will conduct your business with the utmost professionalism, following the rules and regulations of the state.
The licensing process for the Iowa beer and wine permit holders is done entirely online with e-Licensing. The Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division (ABD) has created an Electric Licensing User Guide to help you with the application process.
