The Idaho Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning or HVAC/Specialty Contractor Bond is required by the State of Idaho, Division of Building Safety. The bond amount is to be no less than $2,000. In most cases, however we are able to write this bond for as low as $100 for the year.

An HVAC Contractor is any person providing any service or work including but not limited to:

• installing
• maintaining
• repairing

items such as

• heating, ventilation or air conditioning appliances
• gas-fired equipment that requires special venting
• gas supply piping systems or subsystems

A Specialty HVAC Contractor, meanwhile, is any person providing or offering to provide any services or work along the same lines including but not limited to specialty HVAC systems or subsystems.

If you wish to be in this profession, you will need to apply for a license from the State of Idaho Division of Building Safety.

HVAC Contractor

1. Submit a completed Application for HVAC Contractor License Form and obtain a $2,000 HVAC/Specialty Contractor Bond issued by a surety company licensed to do business in the state
2. Provide proof that shows the applicant having legally acted as an HVAC journeyman for no less than 2 years
3. 
   Pay the application fee of $35 and the license fee
4. Pass the examination for certification as HVAC contractor

Specialty HVAC Contractor

1. Submit a completed Application for HVAC Specialty Contractor License Form and obtain a $2,000 HVAC/Specialty Contractor Bond issued by a surety company licensed to do business in the state
2. Pay the application fee of $35 and the license fee
3. Submit proof of having had an Idaho journeyman license for 2 years
4. Pass the examination for certification as HVAC contractor
