The California Interstate Carrier Bond is required by the California Department of Motor Vehicles, in the amount of $50,000. The bond states that the bondholder shall comply with the rules established by the Department. In addition, they shall pay all sums due for any loss or damage arising from activities under the vehicle code suffered by the State.
The Interstate Carrier Program, formerly known as the Bonded Web User Program, was established by the Department of Motor Vehicles. It allows Interstate Carrier Program partners to provide electronic International Registration Plan vehicle registration services.
Any individual or business that wants to be issued an Interstate Carrier Partner permit is required to be bonded.
