The California Guide License Bond is required by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, in the amount of $1,000. The bond insures the faithful performance of the bondholder, their agents or employees, in fulfilling their responsibilities to clients.
The State of California’s Department of Fish and Wildlife defines a guide as any person who is engaged in the business of packing or guiding. For compensation, the guide assists other’s in taking or attempting to take, any bird, mammal, fish, amphibian, or reptile. In addition, a guide is any person who, for profit, transports other persons, their equipment, or both to or from hunting or fishing areas.
The California Code of Regulations requires any such guide to obtain a license prior to operating. The Guide License bond is one of the licensing requirements.
