The South Carolina Polygraph Examiner’s Bond is required by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division for all who wish to be a polygraph examiner in the state. The bond amount is required to be in the amount of $5,000. The bond states that the bondholder, or Principal, shall account of any loss or liability arising during the term of the license.

What are the requirements that must be submitted in order to be licensed?

A polygraph examiner is anyone who purports to be able to detect deception or verify the truth of statements through instrumentations or the use of a mechanical device. All who wish to be in the profession must be licensed first by the state.

To be qualified for a license, one must be at least 21 years old and must be a citizen of the United States. They must establish themselves as a person of honesty and must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude.

In addition to the bond, they must also present proof of being a graduate of a baccalaureate degree from a college or university accredited by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars. If they only achieved a high school diploma, they must present five consecutive years of active investigative experience immediately preceding their application.
