The Illinois Bonded Title or a Bond for Registration without Certificate of Title is required by the Secretary of State, Vehicle Services Department.
When the title of a vehicle is damaged or cannot be produced, they generally request you to obtain an Illinois Bonded Title. The bond does not protect you. The Illinois Bonded Title or a Bond for Registration without Certificate of Title actually protects the Department of Revenue from you, in case someone with the vehicle’s title claims that the vehicle is theirs.
If there is a claim placed on your Illinois Bonded Title and you are found at fault, the surety company will pay out. However, you will have to pay them back.
